Vernon O. (Chip) Grant was born in Rock Hill, SC.
He is the son of Vernon Grant, nationally known
artist and creator of Snap, Crackle, and Pop.
Chip grew up as part of a family with a musical
history. His father and grandfather were both
accomplished musicians. Equally so, Chip plays
the guitar, bass guitar, mandolin, and violin.
Beginning in the 1960's, Chip played keyboard in a
rock and roll band. He is one of the original members of the "Old Fogies". This musical group
was formed in 1965 and still performs today.
In the 1970's, 80's, and 90's, Chip played in
several country music bands including "Legends"
and "The Country Echoes".
A retired realtor, he presently plays bass guitar with a contemporary group, "Grace Alone", and
sings in the Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church
choir.
As a member of the music club, the York County
Choral Society, the Tuckaway Quartet, and the
Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church Orchestra,
Chip enjoys music to the fullest.
